America and Health Care
NO MORE Mortgage is convinced that certain steps would help our health care system. Chief among them would be to put a cap on the amount of damages people can sue doctors to receive. Second would be to give people the money for their health care as an additional portion of their salary, not have it as an employee benefit. The government may want to give a tax credit to offset this increase in wages.
Once people have their own money, NO MORE Mortgage believes they will be empowered to buy whatever coverage they need. We believe insurance should be purchased on the open market with full competition between carriers selling across multiple state boundaries.
If the 50 million uninsured are the problem (most of who are illegal aliens) then the government could by them full coverage at $300 per person per month for $180 billion. The Obama proposal is over $1 trillion, which is 6 times as much. So we are curious what other budget-busting items are hidden inside this proposal being rushed through Congress.
One analogy NO MORE Mortgage has heard seemed to make a good point. People do not buy homeowners insurance to cover normal wear and tear. They buy catastrophic coverage against fire and severe damage by wind or other peril.
So, health coverage could be much cheaper if it were like homeowners insurance people could purchase catastrophic coverage and pay for normal wear and tear on their own. They could choose their deductible and the various coverage options as they felt necessary.
